Mia's weight had gone up to 62 lbs this Winter. We noticed that since the Fall, when we had our foster Toby, Mia's weight was going up... and even after we noticed and started cutting back the treats, it wasn't really going down. In the past it would nornally go up a bit during Winter and back down in the Spring, but never this much! The vet said her ideal weight, for her size, should be around 55 lbs. Especially since we want to avoid hip issues... So we put her on a diet (we calculated how many calories she should be getting for her weight, and gave her some green beans as "filler") since mid-April, and we're happy to say that her weight is now at 56 lbs! She now looks like she should, with a waist! Some (like my mom) might think she looks too skinny, but that's really her ideal weight.
I'll have to see if I can get a good picture to show a before & after, but in the meantime, here's a shot I thought was kind of funny and a good way to compare. It's little Mia & big boy Spencer ~ 32 lbs difference
(photo taken on June 1st)!
